High School
YEARS 10-11 - IGCSE
From September 2024, the programme of study will lead to final examination in IGCSE.
The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is a globally recognised academic qualification designed for students aged 14 to 16. Developed by Cambridge Assessment International Education, the IGCSE curriculum offers a broad and balanced study programme, encompassing a wide range of subjects such as Mathematics, Science, Humanities, Languages, and the Arts. IGCSE encourages critical thinking, inquiry, and problem-solving skills, preparing students for higher education and future careers. It provides a solid foundation for advanced studies like the IB Diploma Programme, fostering a deep understanding of subjects while promoting independent learning. IGCSE assessments are internationally benchmarked, ensuring consistency and high standards across various countries, making it a respected qualification for students worldwide.
The IGCSE uses 1-9 grading scale, with 9 being the highest and 1 the lowest. In some exams, there are two tiers. The higher and lower-tier system is designed to ensure IGCSEs are attainable for all levels of ability, and teachers enter students into either tier in advance of exams.
YEARS 12-13 - IB Diploma Programme
ICS Milan has been officially recognised as an authorised IB World School for the DP.
At ICS Milan we believe that the breadth of the IB Programme adds a value independent of any specific course. It is hard to quantify the value of scientists being required to study literature, or of artists being required to study mathematics, but we see it in our school and we believe that it provides a rich, broad and holistic educational experience to those in our Sixth Form.
