We are proud to announce that the Design Lab project "Me, myself and you" of Year 5 students has been awarded with an honorable mention in the National Contest "Leone d'Argento per la Creatività" by La Biennale di Venezia, a competition that aims to develop creativity applied to all arts in schools.
The ICS project was born to supplement history, geography and Italian classes in which students analyzed important topics like migratory flows, the closure of borders and the challenges of our contemporaneity. They were asked to imagine a different wall, a wall that could join rather than divide, able to connect and create unity.
Through the three different stages of their work – the design approach stages: discovery, knowledge, project - they have addressed important issues, such as division and inclusion. The power of the experience, consolidated by the work done in class, led the students to develop their specific projects, later presented in the Contest.
Here below the stages of the work and some students’ final projects:
This is a great recognition of the work done in school by teachers and, above all, by the Design team, that helps students to express their creativity and develop their planning skills.
With projects like this, we help our students to base their knowledge on direct experience and on a in-depth analysis of the world, so that they can anticipate scenarios, ask questions and find new solutions for the future.
The award ceremony will take place on Saturday 15 February at Ca ’Giustinian in San Marco, Venice.
