What could the city be like in 2050? A place where people have actively taken back urban spaces that have been reworked for and by them, so that everyone in equal measure can use them. The Light City is a project that develops new visions and a strategic plan in which technology is at the service of a higher quality of urban models of coexistence.
If you would like to be a part of the city of 2050, join us on Saturday 21 April 2018 at 3:30 pm, at ICS International School in via Tenca 2. Bring a picture of (or a story about) an object that you think should be a part of the ideal city. You’ll see it turn into something that you can keep with you forever. You will enter the city of the future, a “light” city, just like the one designed by a group of 9 year old children during an ICS School Workshop. It will be a memorable afternoon, where you will explore a city and its beauty along with some unexpected characters! We’ll also provide some snacks!
My Beautiful City came from a workshop dedicated to exploring a specific aspect of the Light City, in which the children dreamed up cars that are continually moving, shared, driver-less or even flying! This would lead to new urban spaces being freed up and used for something else. During the workshop, the 9 year olds’ plans focused on a rethink of parking spaces with a view to how they could contribute to the beauty of the city! There was only one restriction: the space could only be 3.5m by 5m, which is the space normally taken up by a parked car.
