Dear ICS community,
It is with great enthusiasm and excitement that I look forward to working together in building the next phase of the ICS history. It is my hope that over the next few months and years we will provide our children, parents, teachers, staff and all members of the community a learning environment that is safe, exciting, inclusive and built on ensuring that the needs of every child are met, and where everyone feels challenged and successful.
I want to thank our parent community: we fully appreciate and understand that when you choose ICS as a school for your child, you trust us with the one thing you value the most. I would like to assure you that this trust is well-placed in our hands.
Samer received his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics in 1989, and his Master’s degree from the University of Bath (UK) in International Education in 1998. In 2019, he was awarded a fellowship from Columbia University Teachers’ College (USA).
Samer has worked for thirty years in international schools in Jordan, Tanzania, UK and Italy. From 2011 to 2019 he has been the Head of School at the International School in Genoa, and before that he served as the Principal in Milan at the American School in Milan and Head of Mathematics at the International School of Tanganyika- Tanzania and The Amman Baccalaureate School -Jordan.
Samer has mostly worked in IB schools, introducing one or more of the IB programmes into several of the schools in which he has been an educational leader. Samer also worked at the International Baccalaureate Organization in Cardiff as the Subject Area Manager responsible for the curriculum and assessment of Mathematics and Computer Science.
For several years, he organized and hosted Education Across Frontiers staff development workshops, attended by over 800 educators and school leaders from more than 50 countries.
Samer met his wife, Elizabeth, who is also an educator while working in Milan. They have two children, Tarik James (age 10) and Zayne Edward (age 5). Both boys were born in Italy and are true representatives of multicultural children.
Over the last 30 years as an international educator, Samer’s work and dedication have focused on inclusion and differentiation of instruction to ensure that all students and teachers are successful.
