Our Story

ICS Milan has always been a close-knit community with a family feel. Parents have constantly taken a keen and active interest in their children's learning and growth. Over the years they have, for example, volunteered their time and expertise as parent readers, motivational speakers or field-trip chaperons. Building on this desire to be more involved with the school, in 2021 two pioneering ICS parents, Elke Palmaers and Federico Mastroleo, established the first Parent Teacher Association at ICS Milan and were its first Chairpersons. The PTA never evolved into a structured, formal organisation, but had a core group of enthusiastic and eager volunteers who carried out fundraising activities for the school (which in 2023/24, for example, led to the purchase and building of a garden relax area, cultivation tanks, and supply of gardening materials and equipment, etc.) and charity work to promote the school community and spirit.  This core group of volunteers is composed of:

• Paola Vigo - our level-headed but passionate numbers girl who keeps tabs on budgets and funds, and leads on the Yearbook

• Chiara Vergati - our lively, high-spirited, creative events guru who coordinates our main events especially the Spring Fair and Winter Parent Mixer

• Livia Zacchetti - our calm and collected, secondary school volunteer who supports Yearbook and Movie Nights

• Sara Giorgi - our meticulous and composed, primary school volunteer who supports the Home Language Programme and International Week

With the rebranding to ICS Friends, we hope to give this organisation a new lease of life and closely work with more parents and teachers to further build and enrich our community.

ICS Milan PTA Achievements

The work of our PTA has been extensive and, since its foundation, there have been many achievements and successes to celebrate in our community! Funds have been raised to support local organisations as part of our Giving Projects, community events have been initiated and embedded in our school calendar, and the annual ICS Milan School Yearbook has been developed. We are grateful for all this community effort and excited to see how this will continue to grow together under the umbrella of ICS Friends.

ICS Friends is the natural evolution of the amazing work of the PTA, it will continue as a self-funded group that thanks to community donations and fundraising projects, will invest in selected school projects and donate to support local organisations.
