Creative Writing

Through the Creative Writing club we will emulate the writing style of acclaimed children's authors.

The process would be as follows:

  • We read a descriptive book and study the style of writing. We unpack the vocabulary used and the impact this has on the reader.
  • We look at the grammar, the word types used and sentence structures.
  • We create 'visulations' to reinforce the importance of using strong vocabulary and a sentence structure that is deliberate.
  • We emulate the author's style of writing by completing 'patterned writing' - a process that involves creating our own scene and exploring rich vocabulary to describe it.
  • We create our own literature.
